Boulder County wildfire grants: October 29 application deadline
The practical answer
Can a Boulder Foothills homeowner apply for this wildfire grant?
Boulder County’s fall 2026 Strategic Fuels Mitigation Grant cycle closes October 29. Eligible applicants include HOAs, public bodies, certain utilities and nonprofits. An individual homeowner should work through an eligible organization where appropriate, rather than treat this as a household landscaping rebate.

What does the official source establish?
- The program supports qualifying forest, grassland and community planning work. HOA grassland eligibility has additional limits; check the county’s criteria.
- The standard funding structure requires a 50% match. Reduced-match provisions apply to qualifying socially vulnerable communities.
- Grant approval is competitive. A project’s location alone does not establish eligibility or guarantee funding.
Registry planning suggestions
Turn the notice into your next three steps.
Confirm who would apply
Ask the HOA or other eligible organization to name an applicant lead. Bring the parcel and shared-land boundaries to the first conversation.
Separate mitigation from amenities
Mark the wildfire work separately from patios, gardens and other private improvements. Ask the county which costs belong in the request.
Make the submission achievable
Create a responsibility list for maps, the budget, match documentation and any required site visit. Work backward from October 29 and confirm receipt requirements with the county.
