Western red cedar

Naturally durable and visually warm. Grade, grain, fasteners, end-grain protection, UV exposure, and maintenance expectations should be explicit.

Thermally modified wood

Modification can improve dimensional stability, while brittleness, fastening, color change, sourcing, and manufacturer instructions still matter.
